Boc-D-Leu-OMe is a tyrosine ester derivative that is an aminopeptidase inhibitor. It prevents the breakdown of proteins by inhibiting the enzyme aminopeptidase, which is responsible for the degradation of amino acids at the end of protein synthesis. Boc-D-Leu-OMe has been shown to inhibit both chymotrypsin and trypsin, two enzymes that are involved in protein digestion. This drug can be synthesized from butanoic acid and methyl ester derivatives such as D-leucine methyl ester. The optical rotation of Boc-D-Leu-OMe varies depending on whether it is diastereomeric or not. The diastereomers have a phenolic group with one hydrogen atom bonded to an aromatic ring, whereas those without this group are called enantiomers.
